My Summer Skincare Routine

My skincare routine changes throughout the year because the weather impacts your skin - so I change things up!â €

I’ve been using natural beauty products for many years. Their effectiveness has come a long way and now I can say with confidence that there is really no excuse not to go natural when it comes to your skincare!

Since I’m prone to  rosacea   and  eczema   I am extremely careful with what I use on my skin. I am also careful with essential oils as many of them are irritating for me – just because it’s natural doesn’t mean it’s good for you! That being said, I use natural products with simple ingredients that are mostly organic.

The benefits of natural skincare:

  • You can avoid hormone-disrupting ingredients such as parabens, phthalates, fragrance and thousands more
  • They are effective and affordable. I cannot believe how much money I used to spend on my skincare routine in comparison to all the natural products available
  • Contain beneficial ingredients that nourish your skin whether that be aloe, plant-based ingredients rich in phytonutrients, natural preservatives such as vitamin E and essential oils
  • Better for the environment. Most natural beauty brands care for the planet just as much as they care for your skin and choose organic, fair-trade ingredients when possible in their formulations

Here is my latest video sharing my summer skincare routine and I have linked all the products below.

Here the natural skincare products I mention in my video

If you’ve got any questions, please post below.
Wishing you healthy and joyous summer skin!

Hi Joy thanks for all the info. Love it! Just wondering if you use an exfoliant? If so, what do you recommend?

  2. Hi Joy
I recently have had issues with rosacea. I don’t like a lot of steps or products
in my routine. Which would you say are the most helpful in treating this.
    thank you
    Tina

  3. Hi Joy, thanks for this video. Would these products be safe during pregnancy and nursing? Thanks!

  4. Joy McCarthy

Yes absolutely. As I mentioned in my video, they are free of parabens, petrochemical based ingredients and more. I used many of these products when I was pregnant — the body butter all over my belly and I used it on my daughter from birth.

Hi Tina! The most important factor with managing rosacea is your diet and lifestyle. I have it on my radar to create a video and blog post on this. Right after this video, I got bought a new face lotion I’ve been combining with Hydrextreme by Iremia. You can check them out here: https://iremiaskincare.ca/

  6. Hi Joy,

Are there any products that you would recommend for dark circles and puffiness around eyes? I’ve tried many products and have never found anything that really made a noticeable change.

  7. Joy McCarthy

Hi Kelly, I would look at your diet. Dark circles under the eyes are not due to products but can be a variety of causes most commonly food sensitivities to corn, soy, dairy, gluten or sugar or low iron. Also, low adrenal function can also cause that. Have you gone for a lymphatic facial before? That could help as well and then they can teach you how to do one on yourself. Check out a jade roller as well and I would recommend using it daily. I have one from Province Apothecary I use whenever I have puffiness. https://provinceapothecary.ca/products/jade-roller?_pos=2&_sid=c37fbe521&_ss=r Hope that helps! Use my code JOY for 10% off.

  8. Hi Joy
I am loving the new routine. I use all three products together and they are amazing. I have rosacea and sensitive skin, a bit dry and getting mature 😉 My face is less red than ever and is loving the extra moisture. Do you use this same routine through the winter?

Good video looking for eye cream that you could recommend for reducing wrinkles

Rather than an eye cream, I would recommend taking collagen and using a serum with Hyralounic acid. Note that collagen boosts HA production 🙂

  11. Woow, that’s amazing writeup..,,,I really enjoyed this post…Thank you for the information…

  12. It’s great that you mentioned that a serum is important in your skincare routine since it acts like a vitamin for your complexion. It’s important to choose one that fits your skincare needs to ensure that it provides the right ingredients to beautify or tighten your skin. My mom would appreciate this because she plans on buying skincare products this weekend. Thanks for this.by fierybread skincare routine.
