"Remember to notice the little things and appreciate them."

This is old advice, but it's good advice.

An dear old friend of mine and I used to go for weekly tea dates to various cafes all across the city. In fact, we used to joke that we've probably been to every single cafe in the city of Toronto. This went on for at least 3-4 years. You know those friends that no matter how much time has passed they know you inside and out and always have your best interests at heart? Yaaaaaa, you know it! :)

It was during that one hour "tea date" that he would always give me really good advice - not intentionally, or at least it didn't seem to be. He was never preachy but said little things to me that always made me stop and think.

I thought about this today because I did a little wellness workshop and received flowers in appreciation for the workshop. I had almost forgotten how nice it is to have a fresh bouquet of flowers (btw, thank you Theresa, you made my day!).

So back to my tea date story. He said to me one time "you know joy, if you walk into a room with fresh flowers and don't notice them, then you need to slow down" (or something to that effect). He went on to share his thoughts on how important it is to notice the little things. Because these little things will always bring a ray of sunshine to your day. Too often we go about our day with our head not held high (I don't mean your nose needs to be stuck up lol), looking in one direction only, running from one meeting to the next and not even smiling at our neighbour or our co-workers. I encourage you to change this because you will be pleasantly surprised at how much joy it brings into your life!

Living with intention and taking note of the things that you enjoy or make you happy leads to a healthy body, mind and spirit.

For as long as these flowers survive on my dining room table (provided my cat doesn't eat half of them), I'm going to take notice of them.

Be joyous!

Joy
