Welcome to thoughtful, organic beauty
Hello Joyous is an organic, plant-based, sustainable beauty brand here to bring more joy to your day.
Back-to-school is a fresh start and a time of renewal for many. In fact, studies show that more people actually follow through with the goals they've set when done so in the fall, as opposed to the "January resolutioners". Interesting, don't you think?
With that in mind, I created this list of 10 Daily Habits to Keep in hopes of inspiring you on the path to wellness. Perhaps you are doing a few of these already, even better if you are doing them all. However, don't feel bad if you are doing none of these habits, because today is a fresh start!
1. Squeeze half a fresh lemon in a large glass of water every single morning and drink up on an empty stomach. Don't like lemons? Try 1-2 capfuls of apple cider vinegar.
2. Sit down while you eat breakfast.
3. Give good quality hugs to your loved ones.
4. Think "veggie-centric" for at least two meals a day. Meaning, half your plate should be nutrient-dense vegetables.
5. Make your lunch for tomorrow, in the evening. It can be as easy as tossing leftovers from dinner into a container.
6. Get outside in nature every single day. Even just for 10 minutes.
7. Take your supplements.
8. Give someone the benefit of the doubt.
9. Write down three things you are grateful for before going to bed.
10. Place your hand on your belly while laying in bed just before you drift off to sleep and take TEN DEEP BELLY BREATHS.

Hi joy. I have already put into place the fresh lemon everyday on an empty stomach with good results. Such a great tip and i am *grateful* for all your tips that you post. Just a question about #7, what sort of multivitamin do you recommendtake?
ReplyHi Victoria! It really depends on age/sex/lifestyle/level of activity etc. I always advise on a custom approach based on those points.
Great post Joy! It's sweet and simple but that's what's most important!
ReplyThanks Joanna!
I absolutely love this; I need to add a few of these into my life! I fully agree that September is a much better time to start some new daily habits. How lucky your next Eat Well Feel Well students are to be starting so shortly!
ReplyThanks Adam!
Hi Joy, I really like your tips and also your recipies ( esp desserts). I want to add to your list meditation, prayer and chakra scanning, all great for energy balance.
ReplyWonderful suggestions Maha. Thank you!

Replysurprise someone with a smile, it can make their day and yours because you are sure to get one back!
ReplyThese habits are so simple but can go a long way in keeping people healthy and grounded. I'm smiling because I have been consistently practicing several of these habits, including the drinking of lemon water first thing in the morning--something that I learned from being a regular Joyous Health reader!
ReplyWhild I'm very good at "Planning" what steps I want to take to start fresh, the execution is the tricky part. Thanks for the simple and concise blog on the ten dailies. I'm feeling motivated and going to start with a few today.
ReplyI agree with making lunches in advance - it's a great way to ensure you have a healthy meal every day and is also great for using up leftover veggies! Amy@Dr Fox
ReplyI have been following this everyday so far this month. So far the most helpful have been: 1. This wakes me up so much I don't even need coffee! 2. Taking this time has become so crucial to my morning routine and I feel so satisfied after. 9. I didn't realize how lucky I really am.
ReplyI believe we need to adhere to these habits more this year then ever. So much is changing and it’s VERY hard to see beyond the garbage shoved in our faces. One question; Does the lemon water effect the absorption of thyroid pills??
ReplyI would take it away from when you take your thyroid pills as those are supposed to be on an empty stomach correct?
Correct and I take it first thing in am so quite the conundrum I’m in atm :/
If you wait about 30 minutes that should be fine :)
