Hi Joyous Readers!

I'm excited to share with you my first recorded interview on the Joyous Health youtube channel. This is an interview with Michael from Skinny Co., the makers of the tastiest coconut oil my joyous taste buds have ever met! If you were at my joyous book launch party you received a sample in your joyous swag bag.

As you might have noticed, I have created hundreds of recipes over the years using coconut oil, shared the health benefits and the many uses for coconut oil and other coconut products. I even have a chapter in my book where I talk about superfoods and of course, coconut oil is on that list.

When Michael recently contacted us to ask if we would like to try their coconut oil, of course said yes. I immediately loved it.

In this video, you will learn:

Their unique processing method and why this is essential for quality coconut oil.

The benefit of eating raw coconut oil versus a heated product?

How their coconut oil differs from other brands.

Is "extra-virgin" a marketing term or the real deal?

What is the benefit of making coconut oil in small batches

If you are concerned about that coconut oil may be problematic because of its saturated fat content, know this:

"The science that saturated fat alone causes heart disease is non-existent. The science that saturated fat raises blood cholesterol is also very weak. Since we now know that cholesterol is not the cause of heart disease, the concern about saturated fat is even more absurd today".

I hope you enjoy this interview!

If you have a great product you'd like me to try or interview you about, please get in touch with us! Or if you would like to suggest an expert we interview, let us know.

Have a joyous day!

Joy

Hi Joy, Thanks for this informative video. I've been using Artisana Coconut Oil- one of the only ones that can be found in a jar, is organic, not deodorized, etc. The company claims their product is never heated- 100% cold pressed certified and raw. Since hearing that Skinny Coconut Oil is the only truly raw product on the market, can you elaborate on Aritsana's product at all?

Good day. I would value your opinion on the coconut oil that I use here in South Africa, please see the email between myself and the supplier below. Hi Yussaf I trust you well? Please could you give me a detailed description of the process your coconuts go through to extract the oil. -Is it first dried and extracted from copra? -Is anything added to it, like chemicals or solvents? -is it bleached? -is it a chemical distillation process? I’d really appreciate your assistance with this! Kind regards, Claire Calvert +2784 603 3051 http://www.glamsquad.co.za/ http://www.haironwheels.co.za Hi Claire, We grind our coconuts (like desiccated) then is dried to activate the release of oil then is pressed while virgin is grounded then pressed cold. That is the difference which result to low yield for virgin and high yield for odorless oil. That’s why virgin oil more expensive due to low yield of about 6%. We remove smell by a carbon activate or vacuum process. The oil which is add solvent or chemical to bleach is called RBD oil, made from copra, is usually sun dried, heat to about 200 to 400 degree C then cool and bleached. RBD means refined, bleached and deodorised. Let me know if it helps! Thank you Yussuf
