Rejuvenating Iced Tea

Keep a jug of this refreshing iced tea in your fridge all summer long. It's packed with functional ingredients that benefit your whole body health!
Jul 4, 2022 | Joy McCarthy

I drink tea 365 days per year. In the hot summer months, I always have a jug of this Rejuvenating Iced Tea in my fridge for a quick and refreshing drink that nourishes my body and makes me feel good from the inside out. You're gonna love this recipe!

It's a refreshing blend of two different organic teas, Rejuvenate and Radiance.

I love adding some lemon and lime wedges, plus fresh mint because I always have it growing in my garden. Mint is an exceptionally hardy plant and very easy to grow, it's one of my favourite herbs!

There are many benefits of drinking this tea because the ingredients are nutrient-dense and beneficial for your whole body health. There are no additives such as colouring, flavouring or preservatives -- all of which don't belong in tea in my opinion.

Every ingredient in this iced tea is functional. This means it has many health benefits for your body!

Let's take a look at some of the amazing ingredients in this Rejuvenate Iced tea:

Organic Green Rooibos: This is a popular caffeine-free tea that comes from South Africa. Unlike red rooibos tea that is left to ferment, green rooibos does not undergo this process. Therefore it has a lighter, milder taste. Green rooibos tea is high in antioxidants and minerals such as iron, potassium and zinc.

Lemongrass: This grass has a sweet lemony flavour, as its name suggests. It is an excellent digestive aid, helping to reduce indigestion, and provides both anti-bacterial and antioxidant protection.

Ginger: Traditionally, ginger has been used to support digestive health, helping to reduce intestinal gas and symptoms of motion sickness. It has also been shown to provide powerful anti-inflammatory protection.

Milk Thistle: A flowering plant that is frequently used as a powerful liver detoxifying agent that supports hormonal balance and has skin-benefits! It also supports the kidneys and gastrointestinal system as well as provides anti-inflammatory benefits.

Our Rejuvenate tea blend was the first wellness tea we launched 8 years ago! It's been a long-time fave of our community and it blends beautifully with our Radiance tea as an iced tea.

Some of the key ingredients in our Radiance tea are as follows:

Nettle: The anti-inflammatory compounds may help prevent inflammatory-based conditions of the skin. It’s a natural diuretic which may help the body shed excess water.

Moringa: A plant that has been praised for centuries due to its healing benefits for the skin. Super rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients, moringa nourishes gut health and it’s the unsung hero of skincare. As well, it's a source of vitamin A and C—both skin heroes—plus anti-inflammatory quercetin and blood sugar balancing chlorogenic acid.

Rose: An antioxidant powerhouse, rose helps to strengthen and protect skin cells. Traditional cultures have been using rose for digestive wellness for centuries. The key to glowing from the inside out is a healthy digestive system.

Ingredients
  • 6-8 cups of water (or more depending on size of jug)
  • 2 tbsp Radiance loose leaf Tea
  • 2 tbsp Joyous Rejuvenate loose leaf Tea
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • Handful fresh mint
  • Optional: 1 tbsp honey or 20 drops liquid stevia
  • 1-2 cups ice
Instructions
  1. Fill up your kettle with water and bring to a boil. Place loose tea into an infuser or tea bag.
  2. Using 2 large mugs, place infuser or tea bags one in each mug. Fill each mug with hot water. It will get very concentrated - this is exactly what you want because it will get diluted again when you put it in the jug with ice and cold water.
  3. Add ice to a large jug. Add infused tea from each mug into the jug. Next fill up to the top with water and add lime and lemon slices and fresh mint.
  4. Place in fridge until fully chilled. When ready to drink pour into glass and garnish with mint and a slice of lemon or lime. EnJOY!

Notes

Serves 8.
You can find both Radiance and Rejuvenate tea in the Joyous Shop! Shopjoyoushealth.com/herbal-tea

Most store-bought iced tea is loaded with sugar. These teas are so flavourful you really don't even need sweetener but if you do want to add some I reco using a natural sweetener like honey, monkfruit or liquid stevia.

Have the munchies? I recommend enjoying this tea with some Everything Guacamole if you want something savoury.

Feeling like something sweet? It also goes wonderfully well with a slice of Paleo Carrot Cake for a healthy sweet treat!

Enjoy!
