One of the most common questions I get asked is:

Is it better to blend or to juice?

This is a trick question! Because the answer is not black and white. However, the answer is quite simple! Juicing and blending are both healthy and wonderful. They are just different!

As you can see in the graphic below, when you blend something you are eating the whole food. When you juice food, you are extracting tons of concentrated goodness but very little fiber. Depending on what kind of juicer you have, you may get little bits of fiber from kale or ginger.

Now let's talk recipes. I love both smoothies and juices. In fact, the smoothie in the photo above is my "FLAWLESS" smoothie I posted on Instagram a couple of weeks ago. I was inspired by Beyonce's song "Flawless" (yes, she's my girl crush!) When you slurp this smoothie, you will be taking in nutrition that promotes a healthy and vibrant body and mind. But of course, you are already flawless. Beauty is a mindset. Think yourself beautiful!

  • 1 tbsp organic ground cinnamon

  • Coconut milk (as creamy as you want it to be)
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients into your blender and enjoy!

Notes

This recipe can serve 1 person VERY generously! You could also save the extra for a powersnack later on.

Here are some more smoothie and juice recipes:

If you plan on adding almond milk, then you must make your own as it tastes DIVINE! Here's a video recipe from Joyous Health for my Vanilla Almond Milk

And, here is a Juicing FAQ I wrote a while ago. Update: Since writing this post I got myself a slow upright juicer!

I have a whole chapter in my book Joyous Health on smoothies and juices!

Happy Smoothie'ing and Juicing!

What's your preference: blend or juice?
