September is a great time for setting new goals for yourself, sticking to them and following through. I have noticed over the years that the people who set goals this time of year, actually stick with it, in comparison to January "new-years-resolutioners" as they have been aptly nicknamed.
Set It - Your Goal
When you set a goal, whether it be to get healthier and lose weight, improve your relationships, stop smoking, start meditating everyday, you must truly WANT to reach your goal. Everyday I hear people tell me they want to lose weight and get healthier. The people who truly mean it and set out a plan to achieve it, make it happen. So, my advice to you before you set a goal for yourself is to ask yourself these questions?
Am I ready for change?
Am I ready to actually alter my life to make it a reality?
Is this what I really want or what someone else wants for me?
Am I setting this goal for me or to get someone else to give me appreciation and notice me?
If you want to achieve something, do it for YOU.
There is a lot of truth to the quote at the top. I have seen it happen with many people and the look in their eyes when they mean it and they are going to "stick to it" is like nothing else. It's called "passion". It gives them goosebumps, it gives their life new meaning and they WILL make it happen.
If you have a goal you intend to reach, then here's what you need to do TODAY:
1. Write it down.
2. Tell someone.
3. Make a plan of action. If it's to lose weight, how are you going to do this? Hire an expert? Read a book, get a gym-buddy, take some healthy cooking classes?
Writing it down affirms your plan. This is key to setting a goal. Telling someone holds you accountable. Making your plan is the "how-to" of your goal. Now go make it happen!
