If you are a new reader of joyous health, last year I announced that I'm publishing my first book with Penguin Canada (jumping for joy!). And last summer, team joyous was up north at my parents farm taking lots of lovely photos outdoors in the fresh Northern air. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget. I was also lucky enough to grab a few fun photos (see below) of my sweet man Walker and I goofing around while sipping wine through a polka straw. Work hard, play hard right? ;)
And here we are today: We've just finished shooting the remaining recipes (jumping again) this month!! Yes, I've been a joyous busy bee with my team: Nick my photographer from Lightshack (who took the photos above) and my food stylist extraordinnaire Carol from Type & Colour. We've been creating and shooting the last of the recipes for my book that comes out in early 2014.
So I thought I would share some of the latest and greatest behind-the-scenes of the joyous health book photoshoot with you here. You can see more photos that I've been hashtagging on instagram at #joyoushealthbook. This first photo is me with a platter of pancakes. I'm a pancake monster.

This photo is a tray of chocolate protein bars. The photo of these bars turned out GORGEOUS!!

The next two photos are my collard wraps. The first one is in the kitchen and the one that follows are my creative gurus at work analyzing the avocado. It's like watching paint dry at this point (HAHA!)... but for them, they get all giddy about getting the avos just perfect. Don't get me wrong here, I'm happy to work with such perfectionists.

Here is my dairy-free pear parsnip soup in the making with a unique spice that you will LOVE and a sprinkling of hempseeds on top.

I've finally perfected my "cheesy" zesty kale chips after a gazillion batches of recipe testing. Kale chips are not always the prettiest things to shoot, but the real shot came out amazing. Note: Nearly all these shots are from my trusty iPhone 4.

This vegetarian recipe was on the Joyous 10-day Detox and it's been a favourite of joyous health readers for some time. So I made a few joyous updates to it and it's going in my book! I wanted to make sure I had some reader faves.
