Turmeric Collagen Spicy Latte

This turmeric collagen spice latte is creamy, spicy and delicious! Since it's winter and I like spicy foods and drinks, I definitely upped the ante on the spice factor in this one. I added black pepper and cayenne.

You guys know I love my turmeric lattes! I've made multiple versions from my Lazy Lady Latte to my Super Easy Turmeric Ginger tea, to the Turmeric Latte in The Joyous Cookbook and now this one. And yes, this one is different!

Since it's winter and I like spicy foods and drinks, I definitely upped the ante on the spice factor in this one. I added black pepper and cayenne. It's absolutely hilarious how many people call me out on the fact I didn't add black pepper to this turmeric recipe. But don't worry, I explain why at 6:05 for curious minds in that video.

This turmeric collagen spicy latte is creamy, spicy (I know I just said that, ha!) and delicious!

I get all the crazy good feels when I slurp on this wonderfully, nourishing and healing drink. Since I've talked all about the health benefits of turmeric in many different posts, let's talk about the fact I added collagen to this recipe!

turmeric collagen latte

Collagen has many health benefits

  • Improved skin hydration: Increases the manufacture of hyaluronic acid which gives your skin a full, youthful look
  • Reduces visible signs of ageing: It enhances skins elasticity and suppleness
  • Reduces joint pain: Boosts cellular repair and stimulates the growth of new joint cartilage
  • Repairs tissues: Provides anti-inflammatory support to tissues that are injured especially helpful for sports injuries

I used Genuine Health's Marine Collagen unflavoured for this recipe but you could use bovine too. In case you're wondering, there is no vegan source of collagen because it is sourced from fish or animals.

This Turmeric Collagen Spicy Latte is...

  • Easy to make
  • Creamy and yummy
  • Gluten-free and dairy-free
  • Paleo
  • Anti-inflammatory and rich in antioxidants
  • Beautifying and skin-loving (thank you collagen and turmeric!)

Pop all your ingredients into a high power blender and give it a whirl! If you don't have coconut butter, you can simply omit this ingredient and use non-dairy milk instead. I've shared instructions for that in the recipe card below.

Here's the recipe for my Turmeric Collagen Spicy Latte and the video recipe below.

  • 1 scoop Collagen (10g)*
  • 2 tsp ground turmeric or 2 pinkie size fresh root
  • 1 tsp ground ginger or pinkie size fresh ginger root
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp ground cayenne
  • 3 tbsp coconut butter or 1 cup non-dairy milk
  • Optional: 2 tbsp raw honey or maple syrup
  • 2 cups filtered hot water (if using non-dairy milk instead of coconut butter, then only 1 cup hot water)
  1. Place collagen, turmeric, ginger, black pepper, cayenne, coconut butter or non-dairy milk and raw honey, if using into a high power blender.
  2. Slowly add hot water and let steam dissipate before placing the lid on the blender.
  3. Blend for 60 seconds until it's nice and frothy. If you want, you can strain through a fine mesh sieve or nutbag and then you won't have any ingredients that settle to the bottom.
  4. Drink right away or store in the fridge for up to one day.

Serves 2.

This recipe is like a ray of sunshine! Be careful you do not spill it on any surface whatsoever because it really does stain. But don't worry, it won't stain your teeth!

Can’t wait to try this! But I remember you said there was a way to get the stain out of your blender, could you remind me what it is? Thank you

Sounds delicious and can not wait to try this recipe - thank you! I may opt to exclude the collagen as I've noticed severe breakouts when using it. Have you heard of this before? Any suggestions? Thank you Joy!

I just want to point out that fish ARE animals! I know that might sound like a persnickety thing to say, but I think it's an important distinction. Fish are animals just as much as cows, and should be thought of and treated as such! Love your content though, this recipe looks delicious! I wonder if you would do a post about the different brand of collagen on the market and which ones are of highest quality and truly ethical. I haven't started with collagen supplementation yet but it's something I'm curious about doing, and such a resource would be really helpful!

Unfortunately I am sensitive to ginger, any recommendation to substitute? Possibly cinnamon?

Benefits over one or the other (marine collagen vs. bovine)?

I made this today. I also made spicy hot chocolate yesterday. I love the warmth of the spices. I am normally bored by tea, but these are delicious! And yes, turmeric stains worse than beet!

Hi Joy. You had recommended a turmeric supplement in another blog post. I cannot find it. I used it and it was great for arthritis pain in my fingers. I left it in the US and my fingers have slowly started to ache again. Thanks
