Many people throw their healthy eating habits out the window when they travel. The result is either weight gain or tummy troubles when they return -- or worse, both and even worse? ...Tummy trouble while on vacation.

For me personally, eating well makes me feel well, so I make my best efforts to eat healthfully when I travel.

Since I'm in Austria staying at my sweet man's dad's condo, it's easy for me to eat the way I always do.

So for breakfast today, as per my photo, I had the following:

Ruth's Foods Cranberry Ginger Chia Goodness cereal that I topped with some fresh berries I bought at the farmer's market in Klagenfurt, Austria

1 piece of rye toast (the Austrian's make incredible baked goods including fresh bread) with Artisana raw almond butter.

2 cups of Mighty Leaf Green tea.

2 squares of dark chocolate I bought at the grocery store over here.

I brought most of these items with me on vacation!! The cereal, almond butter and green tea all came with me from home in Toronto, Canada. It was absolutely delicious.

Our next stop will be Paris and you can bet I will be indulging in a delicious pain au chocolat or two and drinking some vino. :)

What do you bring with you when you travel? Share below!

Be joyous,

Joy

Sounds like you are having a great time! What a beautiful place to visit. If you would be interested in sharing, I would love to hear tips about "accommodating" different eating habits when you live with a partner, family member, roommates, etc. I am currently living at home with my parents (moving out in the fall). Though my parents do eat relatively healthily, I often end up doing a lot of my own cooking (and I am vegetarian vs. my parents are not). Sometimes I struggle with balancing this in the kitchen, explaining to my parents why I am making something different, while still feeling like part of the family meal.

I wish I'd thought to bring my own food when traveling last week. I figured that 6 days of "road food" wouldn't hurt and was wrong. Lesson learned. I look forward to reading reader responses here.

I am hypoglycemic. Most breakfasts make me sick. Any suggestions for breakfasts that have a low gl. Most fruits are rough in the mornings too. I usually just do sprouted toast and lots of almond butter & chia seeds.
