Happy Weekend Everyone!

As I write this, I'm sitting on my couch sipping on some white tea and nibbling on some Vega Maca chocolate -- Ooooh LA LA! As you might have guessed, I'm at home and very joyful to be here. :)

The last two weeks I was media touring across Western Canada and Southern Ontario with the Canadian Health Food Association. I had a wonderful (and fun) time sharing my tips on inner and outer beauty (from a holistic perspective of course). If you missed the segment in your city, you can watch the one from our nation's capital -- Ottawa -- right here:

On Monday, I will be on the Global Morning Show sharing these tips with Torontonians too. It will be on at 7:40am EST, so tune in if you can!

I will be talking about one of my favourite beautifying tips -- Coconut Oil. I've written several posts and done many YouTube videos on this deliciously healthy fat. Here's how I use coconut oil for outer beauty:

Tame the frizzies! Using a pea-sized amount of coconut oil melted onto the palm of your hand (it will melt with your body temperature) rub on the very tips of your hair and then lightly throughout. I must emphasize lightly because you don't want to end up looking like a greaseball. If you have thin hair, you may even want to use less. Bonus: Coconut oil is chemical-free.

Deep conditioning scalp treatment. Do you find your scalp gets dry and flaky in the cooler drier months? You are not alone -- many clients tell me this. Moisturize that scalp of yours with coconut oil! At night, apply a small amount to fingers and massage it into your scalp. Or better yet, get someone else to do it for you. Bonus: Coconut oil is anti-fungal as well, so it helps get rid of dandruff. Just make sure you wash your hair the next day.

Luxurious Facial Treatment. After you've removed your make up and washed your face, apply a small amount of coconut oil to your whole face and neck. While you are at it, give your cuticles a little love too. Coconut oil will easily absorb into your skin so you don't have to worry about making your pillow a greasy mess. Even if you do get coconut oil on your sheets, it washes right off! You will wake up feeling like a beachy beauty queen! Bonus:Excellent for acne sufferers because it doesn't clog the pours. It acts as an anti-microbial and anti-fungal as well -- both great reasons to use coco oil on your beautiful face!

Dry feet? Ugggh, my feet used to crack they were so dry!! So using coconut oil plus taking a vitamin D supplement quickly eliminated my problem. Apply a generous amount to your heels and then rub all over your feet when you head to bed -- a mini pedicure and it's free! Do this consistently for at least two weeks and you will notice a huge difference.

Hi Joy, Just watched your video about vitamin D supplementation during the winter time. I couldn't tell the name of the supplements you recommend. Could you let me know? Thank you :)

Hi Joy, I have also switched to coconut oil. I found that my last jar started to get grainy near the end ( this was over the summer). It started to make my skin itchy so i stopped using it. I just bought a new bottle and its working well again. Dont understand the last batch though.

You mentioned coconut oil is great for acne because it does not clog pores, how well would sunflower petal oil work for acne?

Hi Joy, I know this is an old post but I have been using coconut oil for the sides of my scalp(especially overnight) because it’s so dry but the problem is when I wake up in the morning it gets all dry and flaky. Is this normal? FYI, I also have eczema. Jen
