Ep 35: Demystifying Autoimmune Disease with Brett Hawes

He begins by sharing his journey into holistic health, his perspective on why so many people experience chronic illness these days, and then defining just what autoimmune diseases are.

My former teacher from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition Brett Hawes, joins today’s episode to talk about autoimmune disease. Brett is a certified Functional Medicine Practitioner and Holistic Nutritionist who has been a member of the Institute of Holistic Nutrition faculty for 12 years, currently as a student clinic adviser. He runs an online clinic with a focus on complex and chronic digestive issues, hormone health, and autoimmune disease, and is the host of the highly rated ‘Holistic Health Masterclass’ podcast. His podcast is one of my faves and extremely informative. Brett has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share, so get ready to take a lot of notes!

He begins by sharing his journey into holistic health, his perspective on why so many people experience chronic illness these days, and then defining just what autoimmune diseases are. After briefly addressing the dangers of ‘Roundup’, he identifies and explores the main areas of impact on the autoimmune system, including diet, stress, and environmental factors. He finishes by emphasizing the common occurrence of autoimmune, adrenal, and hormone issues in combination and recommending that all three areas be considered in tandem when addressing autoimmune health. Brett’s considerable passion and knowledge shine forth brilliantly here today as he shares valuable information and recommendations that will have a profound impact upon your health and upon your life.
