I’m always looking for ways to make a delicious treat a little more nourishing without sacrificing what makes it a treat. These Sweet Potato Brownies are exactly that!

They’re fudgy, chocolatey and naturally sweetened with sweet potato and pure maple syrup. The sweet potato also helps keep them wonderfully moist, while hemp hearts add plant-based protein, healthy fats and minerals. If you’ve never put sweet potatoes into a sweet baked recipe, you’re in for a real treat.

Raw cacao is one of my favourite ways to add rich chocolate flavour while also getting a little nutritional boost. Cacao is naturally rich in polyphenols, plant compounds with antioxidant properties, and it provides minerals like magnesium, iron, copper and manganese. It also contains flavanols, which have been studied for their potential role in supporting cardiovascular health.
